Church School & Community

As a church school we promote the 'Christian Values' not only through assemblies but in the way we conduct ourselves as a school. This year we are learning about Peace, Trust, Truthfulness, Justice, Compassion & Humility.

We have strong links with our local church, St Mary Magdalene. School services are held at Harvest, Christmas, Easter as well as our leavers' service in the summer. Both Vicar Vicky and Rev Helen are regular visitors at school leading Collective Worship (Assemblies) as well as taking part in the life of the school. Local parishioners often show the children around the church; recently Reception children had a go at ringing the bells and playing the organ!

Our SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican & Methodist schools) inspection in 2013 judged us to be 'Outstanding' in all areas.

Community Involvement
‘Community’ is one of our core Christian values and part of our school vision. We believe it is important to encourage working with and for our local community in order to achieve ‘life in all its fullness’.

Road Safety
As part of our work with the local community, the Parish Council ran a Design a Road Safety poster competition as part of the national Road Safety awareness week.

Patrick and Oliver were our two winners who went on to receive training on using a speed camera outside of school. They were very interested in seeing how fast the cars were going. Thank you to the Speed Watch team for this opportunity.
