Who we are

Foundation Members

Mary Crichton (Since June 2020)

I am a retired social worker and an active member of South Marston Church. I have a particular interest in mental health and remember my school days as not always being easy having changed schools quite often due to my father's work. Recently, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought new challenges to schools and communities and I hope to encourage and support this period of change and look forward to being involved as a Foundation Governor as the school looks towards.

Karl Glover (Since October 2018)

I have lived in Swindon since the mid-1980's and both my children were born and educated in Swindon although they did not go to this school.  I am really privileged to represent the PCC as a Foundation Member of the school and look forward to supporting the school and the Head in promoting its quality of education based on its religious background.

Ex-Officio Foundation Member

Rev. Mark Tidey (Since December 2017) - Vice-Chair
I was born and brought up in Swindon, although I moved to Essex to train and work as a Primary School teacher.  I returned to Swindon to work in a local primary school before taking on a role with the Diocese working in schools in North Swindon and then undertook training for ministry within the Church of England. I was ordained in July 2017 and am serving my curacy in South Marston, Stanton Fitzwarren and Stratton St. Margaret. I also work for SBC offering Information and Advice to those wishing to look for work, training or volunteering opportunities. I am proud to serve as a Governor at South Marston and hope that my experiences and links across the community will help the school.

Community Members

Liz Holmes (Since May 2004)

I have lived in South Marston for more than 26 years and first became involved with the school when my son came here. As I have been a governor for around 20 years I have been involved in many aspects of Governance and education. During my time here I have sat as Chair of the governing body and make use of the HR, business organisation and management skills I have acquired over the years.  In the wider governor arena I have sat on and chaired a number of statutory committees for Swindon Borough Council and been involved in the conversion of a number of schools to multi Academy Trusts. In addition to my commitment to South Marston I also currently chair a multi-academy board and sit as a governor on the local governing body of a secondary school.

Ben Lovelock (Since May 2011)

I have lived in South Marston since 2010 and have been a governor since 2011. One of my children is at South Marston Primary School. Professionally I work as a management consultant specialising in conflict resolution in war torn countries. The skills I bring as a governor are a strategic perspective and significant experience of leadership and management in the public sector. I am actively involved in planning for our school's future and I am keen to foster our relationships with the community.

Andy Hinder (Since January 2016)

I enjoy working with the Friends of South Marston Primary School, raising funds to enhance the children’s learning experience at the school.

Alison Robb-Webb (Since February 2016) - Chair

I have been governor since February 2016 and became Chair of Governors in September 2018 having previously acted as Vice Chair.  I bring to the role over 25 years’ experience in education, having previously been a teacher and part of school leadership teams working to raise standards in partnership with the staff, school and parent communities we serve. I now run my own company specialising in leadership coaching and school improvement.  I am proud to be a governor and keen to ensure that your children benefit from the opportunities our school offers and the values we promote.
